Autumn Doesn’t Take Prisoners: Why Letting Go is Non-Negotiable
At the beginning of autumn, we are facing a profound truth. Most people cling to the warmth and shiny nature of summer, but this is only happening because they dread darkness, slowing down, endings. Endless summer with the big sun shining upon the sky forever is an illusion and the same applies to the Western world’s obsession with productivity, light, “always on” energy and permanent positivity.
As you can see in reality and in nature, things are happening in a very different way. Cycles are nature’s way to function. Leaves do not negotiate when it’s time to fall and nature itself shows us that release is part of survival. Pretending that we can live linearly is a dead end. At this point, I’m inviting you to consider what you are still clinging to that should have already fallen…
I have been there myself. I know how scared you can feel of slowing down and letting go. I am a doer by nature, but no matter how much energy I have to create new things and move forward, I finally came to understand (the hard way) that slowing down, letting go of control and tending to my own real needs is part of my creative process, my healing and my evolution.
Autumn is not about cozy sweaters; it’s about taking stock. This process of slowing down, which is very natural in the season of fall, helps you deepen your awareness. It helps you be more present and mindful of yourself and your experiences. If you don’t consciously harvest your experiences, they ferment into regret, resentment, exhaustion, or even worse, illness. This is the perfect time to harvest the fruit of your spiritual and natural labor. What will you harvest from your summer? What wisdom, what failure, what joy will you carry moving forward?

Instead of making endless new plans, this season of autumn calls for truth-telling. This season is inviting us to reflect a bit on what worked and what didn’t. It is also a perfect time to dig deeper into ourselves and find out what we are afraid to admit. Autumn doesn’t let you bypass. You have two choices: either honor the truth or carry dead weight into winter. What is your choice this autumn?
I chose to let go of hiding. I chose to rest in the beautiful presence of the transitioning energy. I chose to trust my voice and share my truth in more profound ways than I used to. All these things might seem huge and very important but they begin with bold simple acts like burning the to-do lists that never served you or cook something earthy and slow to ground your body. You could even walk barefoot among fallen leaves as a declaration of belonging to the cycle in a super grounded, undeniable way. Stop looking for nice and polished rituals. Choose your own statements of alignment with life’s uncompromising rhythm and pace.
This autumn I’m inviting you to dare to fall like the leaves, dare to compost what no longer feeds you, dare to begin your Inner Gardening. Dare to trust that in letting go, you’re not losing because you’re creating space for the roots of your next becoming… your next glorious chapter of evolution.
